ETP Chemicals

An Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) chemical refers to the various substances used to treat industrial wastewater, removing pollutants and meeting environmental discharge standards. There is no single chemical called "ETP chemical"instead, plants use a mix of coagulants, flocculants, and neutralizers

       Coagulants: Neutralize electrical charges of tiny, suspended particles so they clump together. Common types include Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC), Alum (Aluminium Sulphate), and Ferric Chloride.

       Flocculants (Polyelectrolytes): Long-chain polymers (Anionic, Cationic, or Non-Ionic) that bind small coagulated particles into heavy flakes (flocs) for faster settling.

       pH Neutralizers: Adjust water acidity or alkalinity to an optimal range (typically 5.5 to 9.0) before biological treatment or discharge.

o   Bases: Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide / NaOH), Hydrated Lime (Ca(OH)).

o   Acids: Sulfuric Acid (HSO), Hydrochloric Acid (HCl).

       Oxidizing & Disinfecting Agents: Lower Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), remove color and odor, or disinfect water. Examples include Hydrogen Peroxide (HO), Sodium Hypochlorite (Hypo), and Ozone (O).

       Biological Nutrients & Additives:

o   Bio-cultures: Microbial consortia that break down organic matter in secondary aeration tanks.

o   Nutrients (Urea & DAP): Provide nitrogen and phosphorus to keep microorganisms alive and active.

o   Defoamers: Suppress excessive foam in aeration basins
