Cooling Tower Chemical

       Scale Inhibitors: Prevent mineral precipitation (calcium, magnesium, silica) on heat transfer surfaces. Common types include phosphonates (HEDP, ATMP), polyphosphates, and polyacrylates.

       Corrosion Inhibitors: Protect metal components by forming a passive barrier film. Common types include orthophosphates, molybdates, zinc salts, and azoles (BZT, TTA) for copper/alloys.

       Biocides: Control bacteria, algae, and Legionella.

o   Oxidizing: Chlorine, bromine, chlorine dioxide, and ozone (fast-acting).

o   Non-oxidizing: Glutaraldehyde, DBNPA, and isothiazolinones (penetrate biofilm).

       Dispersants & Biodispersants: Suspend silt, organic matter, and break down slimy biofilm layers so biocides can reach underlying bacteria.

       pH Adjusters / Alkalinity Builders: Acids (sulfuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric) to lower high pH/alkalinity and prevent scale; bases (sodium hydroxide) to raise pH and prevent corrosion.
