Sodium Metabisulfite is a widely used chemical reducing and dechlorinating agent in water treatment.

       Reverse Osmosis (RO) Dechlorination: Neutralizes residual free chlorine and chloramines from feed water before it reaches sensitive polyamide RO membranes, preventing irreversible oxidative damage.

       Oxygen Scavenging: Removes dissolved oxygen in certain systems to help mitigate corrosion and oxidation in pipelines and equipment.

       Wastewater Neutralization: Used in industrial and electroplating plants to reduce and neutralize chromic acid or remove excess chlorine during cyanide treatment.

       Membrane Preservation: Acts as a biostatic preservative solution to inhibit aerobic bacteria and fungal growth in offline or stored RO membranes.
